Kabira Appoints Chief Technology Officer
30-year Industry Expert to Lead Kabira’s Product Repositioning Effort
San Rafael, CA — 12 July 2006 - Kabira Technologies Inc., a leader in high performance transaction processing software for global enterprises, announced today the appointment of Mark Phillips as Chief Technology Officer. Phillips has over 30 years of technology and software development expertise and holds 15 transaction processing-related patents. Prior to joining Kabira, Phillips was most recently the Chief Technology Officer at Knowmadic, Inc., a provider of web services-based business process orchestration technologies.
The appointment of Phillips rounds out Kabira’s executive management team, following the recent additions of Eric Graber as vice president of global sales and Bradley Rode as chief operating officer. Phillips’ appointment is a critical part of Kabira’s new go-to-market strategy to deliver industry-specific transaction processing solutions across a variety of business sectors. With the company’s unique solution for high volume transaction processing, Kabira has aligned its strategy with the rapidly accelerating needs of real-time, always-on business models – such as telecommunications, financial services, and on-line exchanges. These industries demand the highest performance at the lowest cost per transaction with extreme scalability.
“Kabira has a long history of technology excellence, so we required someone of Mark’s caliber in the CTO role to ensure that we maintain and even exceed that standard moving forward, “said Bradley Rode, Chief Operating Officer of Kabira. “Mark is a leader and an innovator with deep knowledge of the real-time transaction space. He will be instrumental in Kabira’s development of a new set of software solutions designed for telecommunications and financial services companies.”
Phillips has held executive positions at various early-stage technology companies in Silicon Valley, serving as vice president of product development at General Magic until 2001, where he was responsible for building and overseeing the company's technical and linguistics teams and planning and implementing the company's enterprise-focused product direction. He was chief technology officer and vice president of engineering at OPI Software, served as vice president of engineering at Angara E-Commerce Services, and also held positions at Insession, Inc. and Transactions Systems Architects, Inc. He began his career at IBM and Tandem Computers. Phillips earned a master of science degree in physics from Oxford University.
Kabira’s Transaction Platform™ and Accelerator™ products provide highly effective solutions for organizations confronting today’s market demand for real-time transaction processing. Its unique Transaction Optimized Services ™ technology is the “secret sauce” that enables Kabira to do so much more for less. A 64-bit memory-resident platform, Kabira can execute more than 50,000 transactions per second running on standard open systems hardware. Since Kabira supports real-time data, transactions, applications, and connectivity in high-speed memory, transactions execute up to 100 times faster than with systems relying on disks. This inherent service-oriented approach to transaction processing is ideal for today’s SOA-based business applications and services that require flexibility, scalability, reliability and maximum performance.
