Kabira Charging ™

Kabira Charging™ software is Kabira's convergent charging, mediation and policy management platform. It offers advanced capabilities for on / off-line, batch, event and session-based charging, as well as fine-grain policy management for both prepaid / post-paid IP service subscribers. Kabira Charging relies on the high-availability and scalability features of our field-proven Kabira Transaction Platform (KTP), and supports single-server (node) and clustered server deployment configurations.

When service providers deploy Kabira Charging™ software, they gain a superior level of control over their subscribers and infrastructure. With Kabira Charging, you get an expanded re-usable module library with features such as "Balance Management" and "Billing Offload." You get a highly-configurable solution for online charging, authorization and policy management that can be extended to support non-conventional needs. In addition, Kabira Charging offers an intuitive web-based administrative and monitoring interface to efficiently manage any number of nodes.

Kabira Charging software runs on SPARC architecture servers running the Solaris 10 operating system as well as on x64-based servers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.

Kabira Charging for Ciscoâ Content Services Gateway 2

Cisco Partner LogoKabira Charging software is optimized to work with the Cisco Content Services Gateway 2 (CSG2), a high-speed processing module that provides a host of service control and billing functions. When Kabira Charging software is deployed in conjunction with the Cisco Content Services Gateway 2, it enables service providers to:

  • Deploy free, prepaid and post-paid pricing plans based on volume, time, quality of service or event
  • Use highly personalized subscriber profile data to drive real-time authorization and measurement, making it possible to manage and / or up-sell high-usage subscribers
  • Adjust pricing and charging of data services in real-time, based on the value delivered and / or the class of service supported
  • Benefit from Kabira's High-availability functionality that ensures real-time charging is available even when the billing system goes down
  • Improve customer satisfaction and reduce churn

Cisco's Content Services Gateway (CSG2) is a new line card for the 7600 Series Router or the Catalyst 6500 Switch with powerful content billing and filtering capabilities. A single Cisco CSG2 blade can simultaneously manage several hundred thousands of active mobile users, and process more than a million concurrent sessions per second - while at the same time, providing two major new functions that providers need to manage and monetize mobile content services. These functions are:

  • Dynamic mobile content examination and access control - enabling mobile service providers to meet the customers' need for parental control, satisfy corporate usage policies and comply with social and regulatory requirements, and
  • Flexible, "Application-aware" billing - enabling providers to offer differentiated charges for services by volume, duration, event and other parameters
